Team ENEOS Joins Forces with A’PEXi USA for Global Time Attack 2023
Team ENEOS is growing and we recently welcomed our newest member Hana Burton to the family! An up and coming driver in both local US grassroots and various Japanese racing series, she made her ENEOS track debut at the 2023 Global Time Attack finals, racing the A’PEXi GR86 with co-pilot Maaya Orido, daughter of the legendary Japanese racer/drifter, Manabu Orido.
The A’PEXi GR86 debuted at the SEMA Show and is still a true street car, although it has been modified with off-the-shelf, street-legal products. The team was eager to see how both drivers would perform with very little practice, and GTA provided the much-needed seat time they were looking for.
Hana clocked a 1:59 during practice on the Buttonwillow Raceway circuit, and shaved off a second for a best lap of 1:58 on day one. At the end of each day she changed for a fresh ENEOS Racing Street 0W-20 oil change to have it ready for the next battle.
GTA was Maaya’s first time driving at Buttonwillow and the United States, and during her first practice day she was able to clock a 2:10. On day one she went much quicker, clocking a 2:04, and on day two was able to bring it down further with a best of 2:02 during the first session.
Team A’PEXi thought their driving performances were extremely impressive considering what little practice they had, and found Hana and Maaya’s progression to be inspiring. Naturally you can expect them to be driving the GR86 again as more improvements are made to the vehicle.
