Race IV & V: Saturday, June 18 & 19, 2016
Location: Daytona, FL
Steve Arpin Finish:
Race IV: 1st
Race V: 6th
Season standing: 2nd
Highlights:
- Steve Arpin added to Chip Ganassi Racing’s extensive Daytona International Speedway trophy count with a win on June 18th’s Red Bull Global Rallycross Supercar final. Arpin took the first Supercar victory for both himself and the team, adding to Ganassi’s Rolex 24 at Daytona and Daytona 500 victories
- This is Arpin’s best Red Bull GRC finish to date
- On the second day of competition, Arpin was plagued early in practice by a drive shaft issue which the team had to replace. Starting toward the rear of the field in the finals, and battling hard throughout the race, Arpin was relegated to a 6th place finish
- With this finish, Arpin moves to 2nd in series point standings
Steve Arpin: “You have to be super aggressive on this first corner to give yourself some track position to be in a position to race. One of the things I’ve learned here is there are some areas of the track where you just have to attack it like a dirt track, to almost where you are being overaggressive. Then, there are other areas where you have to be super disciplined, just back everything up and stay calm through there. It’s just finding that happy medium in those areas around different parts of the racetrack.”
