Monster Energy Yamaha MotoGP prepares for 2022 Championship Season
The ENEOS-sponsored Monster Energy Yamaha MotoGP team has announced its quest to retain the MotoGP championship title in 2022. This will be undertaken by reigning world champion Fabio Quartararo and teammate Franco Morbidelli. The season kicks off on March 6, 2022 for the Qatar GP at Losail International Circuit.
Quartararo and Morbidelli will be riding the YZR-M1 bike using a similar graphic scheme as the previous season, but is switching to leathers featuring Monster Energy Black and Yamaha Factory Racing Blue panels; the perfect combination of Yamaha’s aesthetic and Monster Energy’s brand design.
“I’m excited to begin a new season, to start riding and improving the bike for the season opener,” said Quartararo. “While we won the title last year, none of that will matter once the first day begins — it’s time to focus on this year’s championship. Now that I have a year’s experience with the Factory Team, we know how to work well together, we understand our strengths and where we can make improvements. This is crucial as we test in Sepang and Mandalika.”
For Morbidelli, this season will be a fresh start: “2021 was all about showing my mental strength while working to improve my physical strength. It wasn’t easy coming back after knee surgery but the work I put in last year will pay off as we begin 2022. I can’t wait to start riding since my knee is feeling a lot better!”
Yamaha Factory Racing MotoGP Test Team rider Cal Crutchlow will join Quartararo and Morbidelli at the Official MotoGP Sepang Test as Yamaha has all hands on deck to start its 2022 campaign in full force.
ENEOS is delighted to continue its relationship with Monster Energy Yamaha MotoGP and look forward to another Championship title!
