Mooresville, N.C. – Larson Marks Racing and driver Shane Stewart earned a runner-up finish Saturday night at Thunderbowl Raceway in Tulare, Calif., with the World of Outlaws Craftsman Sprint Car Series. The finish advanced the team two positions to the runner-up spot in the series championship point standings.
Stewart was the third-fastest qualifier in the second flight of qualifying Saturday night. After starting second in his heat, Stewart won and advanced to the all-important dash that sets the night’s feature event starting line up.
Stewart started sixth and gained two spots in the dash to earn the fourth-place starting spot for the feature event. He again gained two positions early in the feature and made a couple of charges on the leader David Gravel, but was unable to make a pass and finished second.
“We had a great car, just couldn’t do much because of the track conditions. I felt that we had a car capable of winning the race,” Stewart said. “I’m thankful for the hard work that went into getting the track as good as it was. They had a lot of rain here lately, so it was nice to get one night in.”
Friday night’s event at Thunderbowl Raceway was postponed due to rain. No make up date has been scheduled.
The Larson Marks Racing team will be back in action at the Stockton Dirt Track in Stockton, Calif. on March 18 and 19.
