Driver Shane Stewart Remains Second in Series Standings
Mooresville, N.C. (April 13, 2014) — Shane Stewart and Larson Marks Racing posted two top-five finishes in three races in Northern California last week. The back-to-back top-10 finishes at Calistoga Speedway kept the team second in the World of Outlaws series point standings.
“We definitely didn’t get the finish we wanted at Placerville on Wednesday,” said Stewart. “But, the two nights at Calistoga were solid. When you consistently get top-five finishes, then you’re putting yourself in the position to win. Those top-fives will become more wins for us and we’re all pretty excited about that.”
On Wednesday at Placerville Speedway, Stewart qualified 10th and finished third in his heat race. After starting 14th in the feature event, he gained three positions to finish 11th.
Saturday at Calistoga Speedway, the LMR 2 qualified 14th and won the heat race to transfer into the night’s dash. Stewart finished sixth in the dash which set up his starting position for the 25-lap feature. He gained four positions to finish second, his fifth runner-up finish this season.
The following night, Stewart qualified second and finished fourth in his heat race. He started and finished fourth in the dash and eventually finished fourth in the feature event as well.
Stewart and the LMR 2 team remain second in the series standings, 30 points behind defending champion Donny Schatz.
The World of Outlaws will next compete at Kings Speedway in Hanford, Calif. on Friday and Perris Auto Speedway on Saturday to wrap up its six-week West Coast tour.
