Two Top-Five Finishes for Larson Marks Racing in the Midwest
MOORESVILLE, N.C. (SEPTEMBER 19, 2016) – Larson Marks Racing scored two more top-five finishes this weekend in the Midwest. The World of Outlaws Craftsman Sprint Car Series traveled to Clay County Fairgrounds in Spencer, Iowa on Friday night and US 36 Raceway in Osborn, Mo., the following night.
Stewart qualified third Friday night at Clay County Fairgrounds and won the third heat race from the pole starting position. He started sixth in the dash and finished seventh, earning a starting spot on the inside of the fourth row for the main event. Early in the 30-lap feature event, Stewart slipped back to 10th but had moved back up to eighth by the halfway point. He survived a couple of late-race cautions to advance to a fifth-place finish.
The following night, Stewart timed in eighth quickest in qualifying and finished third in his heat race at US 36 Raceway. After starting eighth, Stewart advanced to sixth and was into the top five by the halfway point of the race. Stewart survived the tough track conditions and moved up one more spot for a fourth-place finish.
“It feels good to earn a pair of top-five finishes this weekend,” said Stewart. “The Larson Marks guys have been working extremely hard to find some speed in the No. 2, and it’s paying off. We’re coming into the home stretch and we hope to check off a couple more wins before the season ends to build some momentum going into next season.”
The Larson Marks Racing team will be back in action this Wednesday, September 21 at Hartford (Mich.) Speedway. This is the make-up event scheduled after a rainout earlier this season on July 29.
