The biggest news for the 2024 season is the elimination of single-run qualifying in PRO and PROSPEC competition, becoming a tandem-only series from its first runs until the winner’s podium. This is to provide fans and drivers with an even more compelling and entertaining experience, providing all drivers the opportunity to compete in at least one tandem competition run to secure their place in the Top 32 competition heats.
Additional changes for the season include new roles for the 2024 FD Competition Staff roster. Four judges will rotate throughout the year, including regulars Brian Eggert (USA) and Robbie Nishida (Japan) and two new judges: Reese Marin (USA), an experienced driver, instructor, and competition spotter (who most recently served as Chelsea DeNofa’s spotter during his Championship-winning season), and Vernon Zwaneveld (Netherlands), a long-standing judge with the Drift Masters European Championship, who’s also an accomplished stuntman and drift instructor, helping to shape the future of global drifting with his years of firsthand experience.
