Formula DRIFT Announces 2023 Championship Schedule
The smoke might still be clearing from the House of Drift finals but Formula DRIFT is already eager to take on its 20th anniversary season in 2023. At the recent SEMA Show, president Ryan Sage announced plans for the PRO and PROSPEC Championships and announced celebrations for its landmark 20th year as a professional motorsports series.
One major change to both PRO and PROSPEC is the removal of the 37 driver cap, allowing more teams to enter the series but making qualifying more challenging than ever as only 32 drivers will be able to advance to head-to-head competition.
PRO teams that qualify will now fight for a Prize Purse that’s doubled over 2022, and the 2023 PRO Champion will receive $50K for their achievement.
The series has also created the Formula DRIFT Hall of Fame: the first inductees will be honored at the opening round in Long Beach, with each inductee receiving a unique FDHOF ring, custom-made for the recipient, encrusted with diamonds and gemstones to a value of $10K. Additionally, a FD monument will be erected in downtown Long Beach to commemorate the sport, and each HOF inductee will be etched in the monument to preserve their part in drifting history.
Formula DRIFT has other special plans in the works for 2023, and you can bet that ENEOS will be ready to compete and join the festivities for an unforgettable anniversary drifting season!
