Kraus Finishes 2020 Rookie Season with McAnally-Hilgemann Racing in Solid 11th
Derek Kraus, the ENEOS-sponsored driver of the McAnally-Hilgemann Racing #19 Gates Hydraulics / NAPA Belts & Hoses Toyota Tundra, finished his rookie season 11th overall in the NASCAR Gander RV & Outdoors Truck Series thanks to another solid performance at the season finale held at Phoenix Raceway on November 6, 2020.
Kraus was in 17th place midway through the race, gaining ground in the final stage. He got as high as 11th before a caution came out on lap 104. During an extended pit stop, his engine stopped for an unknown reason. The team eventually got it to restart but Derek lost three laps in the process. He rejoined the action in 27th and was able to gain a few spots to finish 24th.
“Overall it was a great rookie season with the new MHR team,” Kraus said. “I’m really looking forward to what’s to come!”
The Phoenix race concluded a great rookie season for Kraus and the first-year MHR team in the truck series, finishing 11th in the championship standings thanks to three top five and 13 top ten finishes from 23 starts, including a runner-up finish at Darlington Raceway and fourth at Daytona.
