Countdown to SEMA: Looking Back at Previous ENEOS Feature Vehicles, Part 5
We’re in the home stretch with only a couple of weeks remaining before SEMA 2019 kicks off. Build progress is progressing nicely with the Super Street A90 Supra project, which will feature in the ENEOS booth #24415, located in Central Hall. For our final “Countdown to SEMA” feature, we’re looking at Daniel Song’s ’72 Datsun 240Z, which we proudly displayed in our booth last year.
Another stunning restoration by JDM Legends, Daniel sourced the car himself but soon discovered that restoring it wasn’t as easy as he originally thought. After stripping the chassis and painting it, the Z sat untouched for a year until Daniel decided to place it in the hands of true professionals, which is where Utah-based JDM Legends came into play. They knew exactly what was needed to complete Daniel’s vision of the perfect resto-mod.
Though he has an original numbers-matching L24 in his possession, Daniel and JDM Legends saw greater potential with a more powerful L28 engine swap using triple carburetors, which preserved the ’70s-era sound, smell and feel. JDM Legends also went through the painstaking task of replacing the hardware throughout the entire chassis, delivering a perfect specimen you would believe had recently rolled off the assembly line.
“You won’t find a more passionate group of guys than JDM Legends,” Daniel asserted. “Their deep understanding of the tuning culture, and the essence of period correctness is what makes them so authentic. They told me that if they were to build a Z for themselves, this is how they’d do it. That’s really the best compliment I could get.”
While Daniel’s 240Z graced the ENEOS booth in SEMA 2018, be sure to see the Super Street A90 Supra project in the ENEOS booth #24415 during SEMA 2019 at the Las Vegas Convention Center from November 5-8, 2019.
