Earn Third-Place Finishes at Grays Harbor and Cottage Grove
Driver Shane Stewart and the Larson Marks Racing team earned their eighth World of Outlaws win of the season, 10th overall, at Saturday’s Monster Meltdown finale at Skagit Speedway in Alger, Wash.
“I was able to win in Oklahoma in front of all my family and friends,” Stewart said in victory lane. “It just feels good to win in front of Scotty’s (Martin, crew chief) friends and family as well. This has honestly been a dream season for this whole crew, this whole team, everyone that’s involved. They work endless hours and they just always keep their heads down and keep pedaling away.”
Following Friday’s rain out, Stewart qualified fifth and finished third in his heat race to transfer to the World of Outlaws dash. He won the dash to secure the pole starting position in the night’s feature event. Stewart took the green flag and never looked back, leading wire-to-wire to earn the win.
On Monday, the team traveled to Grays Harbor Raceway in Elma, Wash. The Larson Marks Racing No. 2 qualified 10th but won the first heat race to transfer into the dash. After starting seventh in the dash, Stewart advanced one position to earn the sixth-place starting position in the A-Main. The LMR 2 team gained three positions throughout the 30-lap A-Main to finish third.
Continuing the World of Outlaws West Coast tour, Stewart, Martin and the team made their debut at Cottage Grove (OR) Speedway. Stewart qualified third and finished fourth in his heat. He then finished fourth in the dash and advanced one position to each the team’s second consecutive third-place finish.
